  • Dorothea Schöne in conversation with Said Baalbaki – in German
  • Said Baalbaki was born in Beirut/ Lebanon in 1974. After taking classes at the Institut of Fine Arts in Beirut, he moved to Berlin in 2002, where he continued his studies at the Universität der Künste. In his work, he combines the cultural and artistic roots of his homeland with contemporary discourses of his adopted country, Germany. In his artistic practice, he works with different media – ranging from painting, to works on paper and sculpture as well as new media. After a residency at the Federal Foreign Office in 2017, Baalbaki is currently preparing an exhibition about the life and work of Jussuf Abbo, who died in exile in London in 1953.
