  • Dabke Community Dancing - Workshop with Medhat Aldaabal (Dance) and Ali Hasan (Live Percussion)
  • 3 – 4.30 p.m.

Dabke (traditional circle dance from Syria) aims to create social and family bonds by bringing ourselves together in movement, manifesting memories, learning and exchanging creativity. By turning dance into physical and emotional therapy, we strive to enrich our cultural understanding of family.

Dabke is very popular in many variations and in Berlin combines the enthusiasm of the two Syrian artists with the openness and diversity of the city and a multi-generational audience.

»All of the participants were smiling in the end and that was the most beautiful thing. When I see that people are happy, enthusiastic and smiling, then I feel that I am becoming a part of this country, and this country is becoming a part of me.« (Medhat Aldaabal)

    Dance: Medhat Aldaabal

    Music: Ali Hasan

Duration approx. 1.5 hours (including break)

    Participation free admission

The workshop is open to people of all ages and suitable for children aged 10 and over. Previous knowledge is not required – but you can enjoy exercising in a group. We dance in the garden and by far. We kindly ask you to register in advance at outreach@atelierhaus-dahlem.de.
