We are deeply saddened and shocked by the passing of Henrike Naumann. In 2021, we had the privilege of presenting her exhibition Einstürzende Reichsbauten (Collapsing Reich Buildings). Her humour, her energy, and her warmth will remain with us. Our heartfelt condolences go to Clemens and Nina, her family, and her friends.

Born in Zwickau (GDR), Henrike Naumann was one of the most important German artists of her generation. Through her work on right-wing extremism, memory, and radicalisation in East Germany – articulated through the aesthetics of 1990s interiors – she transformed private space into a site of social and political engagement, not only in Germany but within a broader European context.
