The documentary Emilio Vedova. Dalla parte del naufragio is a compelling narrative about the life and work of the Venetian painter Emilio Vedova (1919–2006), an exceptional figure and one of the most important artists of post-war Italy. The film is distinguished by the impressive performance of Toni Servillo, who reads from Vedova’s diaries, while the cinematic narrative is enriched by interviews and contributions from curators and critics, collaborators, friends, and colleagues of Vedova, including Alfredo Bianchini (President of the Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova), Germano Celant, Karole Vail (Director of the Guggenheim Collection and granddaughter of Peggy Guggenheim), Fabrizio Gazzarri, Vedova’s long-time assistant, and Georg Baselitz, a close friend of Vedova.
