AFKAR – Performance in memory of Erich Buchholz
With Medhat Aldaabal & Ali Hasan

AFKAR, is a performance to honour the memory of Erich Buchholz, through an interdisciplinary collaboration between a dancer and a musician who experienced exile. That aims to create a unique and immersive experience for the audience, and them self, inviting everyone to engage with art in a new and innovative way.

Your creative space!
Drop-in workshop for children from 6 years and their adult companions

What does your space look like, where you feel comfortable? In which you have peace to play, to dream, to work, to think? How does it feel? Warm, cold, big, small, soft, rough or completely different? Which materials match these sensations? Based on the artworks and the reconstructed studio of Erich Buchholz, you can draw your creative spaces and design your own model spaces with different materials. Come by anytime!
At 4 pm there will also be a finissage: Here the objects from the drop-in workshop will be shown on the gallery in the exhibition space!
With Karen Michelsen Castañón (artist and art educator, Berlin) and Tanja-Bianca Schmidt (art historian and art educator, Berlin).

Exhibition tour in German

This dialogical exhibition tour in German by an art educator introduces you to the universal artist Erich Buchholz and takes his legendary »Egg House« as an opportunity to discuss with you the artist’s realization of possible utopias. Although familiar with avant-garde movements such as Constructivism, Expressionism or Bauhaus thinking, Buchholz did not join any of these groups. Rather, he took a stand on his own artistic work with his own texts. We take the artworks as a starting point for a joint conversation.
With David Ludwig (Scientific Trainee Kunsthaus Dahlem)
