    LUNCH TALKS: Making Marginalized Groups Visible – with Daniel Farfán, Klaus Lederer, Albert Weis (EN)

    In the LUNCH TALKS series, international artists, curators and other cultural professionals talk about their work, current challenges, and unconventional approaches to their exhibition and educational practice. After each talk, all guests are invited to a typical snacks and drinks from the respective countries presented.

    In an open dialogue, participants and audience discuss the possibilities and challenges of making marginalised groups visible and involving them in artistic and cultural processes.

    Participants – Biographies

    Daniel Rendón Farfán is Director of Programs at The Americas Research Network (ARENET) and President of the Ibero-American Craft Council (IBEROARTE). A graduate of Industrial Design from Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla, his career has focused on social innovation and design as a tool for cultural and community transformation. Farfán has developed creative economy projects in cities such as Oaxaca, Mexico; João Pessoa, Brazil; Madrid, Spain; and Medellín, Colombia, weaving networks between ancestral knowledge and contemporary expression. His current focus lies on queer artistic practices in Mexico as acts of resistance, tenderness, and radical imagination – drawing lines between memory and revolution.

    Klaus Lederer is a German cultural politician. After completing his law studies, he earned a doctorate at the Humboldt University of Berlin. From 2003 to 2017, he served as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, with a focus on legal policy. From 2016 to 2023, he held the position of Deputy Mayor and Senator for Culture and Europe in the Berlin state government. Today, Lederer acts as a spokesperson for drug and queer policy.

    Albert Weis is a visual artist and board member of the Association of German Artists. After studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, he was a master’s student of James Reineking. He received scholarships in cities such as Paris, Los Angeles, and Dublin and has won numerous awards, including Bayerische Kunstförderpreise (Bavarian Art Promotion Awards). Weis has exhibited internationally, including in Germany, France, Ireland, China, and the USA. In 2022, in dialogue with the exhibition Spatial Lines – Graphic Works by Hans Uhlmann, 1933–1960, he presented the installation Changes at Kunsthaus Dahlem.
