“Don't think, but look!” – Presentation of the book by Walter Feilchenfeldt in German
Art always reveals its secrets to us when we get involved, without distraction and by simply looking at the works of art. Suddenly, we recognize something. The Swiss art dealer, collector and art researcher Walter Feilchenfeldt lets us see and marvel. His illustrated book DON’T THINK, BUT LOOK! A View of Painting over Seven Centuries (ger./eng.) is not a compendium or reference work but an exercise in our visual powers and an invitation to look. In this work, the expert on Paul Cezanne and Vincent van Gogh is concerned with something other than pictorial technique, art epochs and genres. His publication is not intended to be a comprehensive history of art. Instead, Walter Feilchenfeldt’s subjective selection of 338 paintings from seven centuries gives us an unclouded view of the chronological development of Western painting.
He will talk about this at the book premiere on 13.12.2023 at 19:00 at Kunsthaus Dahlem (Käuzchensteig 12) with the Director Dr. Dorothea Schöne and the Editor of the cultural magazine Geistesblüten Christian Dunker.
