Together with Haus am Waldsee, the Georg Kolbe Museum and the Brücke-Museum, we invite you to enjoy free admission and a varied programme of activities and workshops.

This joint initiative builds on Berlin’s Museum Sunday, which offered free admission to numerous museums across the city once a month until the end of 2024. Together, we highlight the importance of making art and culture accessible to everyone.

FÜHLEN SIE SICH WIE ZU HAUSE, ABER VERGESSEN SIE DABEI NICHT, DASS SIE ZU GAST SIND
    with the author Anna Schapiro

    in German

Anna Schapiro reads selected passages from her new book, a novel spanning an era of Soviet Jewish life in the 20th century.

    About the novel:
At the funeral of her legendary grandmother Sweety, Anna Schapiro decides to seek out her family’s untold stories. With a recording device in her luggage, she travels to New York and Boston, Arad and Haifa, visiting distant relatives and her grandparents’ former fellow students and friends. Each conversation bears witness to one person’s unique path through life. Yet they all share Anna’s story.

Followed by a conversation moderated by Anne Fäser (Curator of Outreach, Kunsthaus Dahlem)

► Anna Schapiro was born in Moscow in 1988 and came to Germany with her parents in 1992. She studied Fine Art in Dresden and Jewish Studies in Stockholm. Work and fellowship stays have taken her to New York, Warsaw, London and Mexico, among other places. She exhibits internationally and teaches at various universities and art colleges.

    2–4 pm
    Workshop
GESICHT ZEIGEN – HOW TO REMEMBER PEOPLE
сreating portraits through drawing, collage and text
    in German and English

Eva Frankfurther painted people who were often overlooked: workers, immigrants and neighbours in London’s East End. She looked closely and gave them a face.

Who would you like to remember? How would you like to remember this person?

First, we visit the exhibition to see Eva Frankfurther’s portraits. Afterwards, we create our own images of people who matter to us. This could be a grandmother, a neighbour or someone from a completely different time. We draw, make collages and write texts. Speech bubbles are welcome too. Gradually, we create a shared archive of memories of many special people, which will be made accessible at Kunsthaus Dahlem during the exhibition.

Everyone is welcome, whether coming alone or with others, of any age, with or without disabilities.
